Speculative / Concept Project
Second Opinion
A concept campaign that turns the group chat — the real beauty decision engine — into a content format.
Overview
A concept campaign that turns the group chat — the real beauty decision engine — into a content format.
Type: Concept campaign. Industry: Beauty. Year: 2026.
The challenge
Beauty brands built on community eventually hit a wall: the community is treated as a marketing asset rather than a product input, and the content becomes polished enough to feel like advertising again. Meanwhile the actual purchase decision happens in a screenshot sent to three friends.
The insight
Nobody buys beauty alone. The decisive moment is a photo sent to a group chat with the caption 'thoughts?'. That exchange — blunt, funny, specific — is more persuasive than any campaign film, and brands are absent from it.
The idea
SECOND OPINION — a format where every product story is told as a conversation between three people who disagree. Real texts, real hesitation, real verdicts. The brand's role is to host the argument, not to win it.
Creative direction
Split-screen vertical video, typed-message overlays, no voiceover. Ugly-good lighting. A recurring on-screen device: the verdict card at the end, sometimes negative — which is exactly what makes the positive ones land.
Layout mockups indicating format and structure — not finished assets.
Campaign execution
A rolling call for real group chats, cleared and anonymised with permission. Community members become recurring characters. A monthly 'verdicts' recap on email and SMS closes the loop and feeds the next round.
Distribution
Organic on brand and community accounts, paid amplification on the highest hold-rate cuts, SMS as the fast lane for drops, email for the editorial recap.
Testing
Verdict-first vs question-first opens. Three-person vs two-person casts. Product-in-frame at 0s vs 6s. Offer tests on bundle vs single.

Running…
The system isolates winning combinations, promotes them into scaling, and retires the rest on a documented kill rule.
Measurement
Saves and shares as pre-purchase intent, UGC submission volume as system health, SMS click-to-order rate, repeat rate on the 90-day cohort.
Results
Speculative / Concept Project · figures are illustrative
This is a concept project. No performance results exist, and we will not invent any. What follows describes the intended shape of the work and the metrics we would hold it to.
What we would measure
Saves and shares as pre-purchase intent, UGC submission volume as system health, SMS click-to-order rate, repeat rate on the 90-day cohort.
Learnings
Giving an audience permission to be critical makes their endorsement worth something. The most valuable UGC system isn't the one with the most submissions — it's the one people believe.
